This game was on the computers at the public library.
I have a little trick with this game. You have to get the scroll translated to discover the sequence that opens the door behind the statue. It's different each time you play, but there's usually a pattern to it: either 'X, Y and X once more' or 'X, then twice the knee' or 'X, Y, and then an ear'. Equipped with this knowledge, I can play around with the statue until I hit the right trigger code by chance. Doing this means I don't have to translate the scroll and I can skip Cairo entirely.
You'll still have to fix all the palace doors in the Nile Kingdom and put up with the Sphinx's Groucho Marx-inspired jokes in the pyramid, though.

I played this game a lot as a kid so was excited to play again. Sadly it seems like there is only a Mac version available right now. So it won't work for me. Did give it shot though, but the file was empty upon opening it.

Zip file has two additional zip files, to a hqx to iso... And then the ISO has windows files in the subdir but the main program is not an executable. Something went terribly wrong with this file.
